Begin your 12-day magical Uganda Gorilla and wildlife Safari with a briefing from our experience tour guide who will pick you from your hotel of residence in Kampala or Entebbe. The adventure commences with a tour of Kampala city prime attractions, such as the Uganda Museum built in 1954 where priceless artefacts, antiques and items of historical significance are kept, Kasubi Royal tombs (MASIRO) built in 1882 and converted into burial grounds in 1884 a UNESCO heritage site – the regal tombs of the fallen Buganda kingdom kings, Kabaka’s Palace (LUBIRI) – home to the king of the biggest kingdom in Uganda the Buganda Kingdom , Ndere center – Kampala’s cultural epicenter, Uganda Martyrs Shrine Namugongo built in the commemoration of the

After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will leave Kampala and head towards the north-western Uganda, driving to Murchison Falls National Park for the ultimate Safari holidays experience.

 

You will make a brief stopover at the historical Luweero Triangle – the place where the brutal massacres that brought the ruling government into power occurred. Have a chance to purchase an assortment of fresh fruits and refreshments then proceed to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, which was set up to restore the endangered white Rhino population which was depleted during the 1970’s in Uganda. You will be briefed by the ranger guide about the do’s and don’ts during rhino tracking and proceed for the activity that takes 2 hours.

You will awake up to the strangely beautiful sounds of the vibrant wildlife in the park, the chirping of crickets, twittering of the birds and the rigorous roar of the waterfalls. After an early morning breakfast, you will set out for your first Safari holiday’s adventure in the park – a game drive accompanied by a professional ranger to the Northern bank around Buligi game tracks will allow you to spot Elephants grazing, herds of Buffalos, the graceful giraffes, duikers, Warthogs, Reedbucks, Bushbucks, the strange-looking Hartebeest and the cherished Uganda Kob. Lions maybe seen occasionally and leopards are usually spotted at dusk. This is also a zone of many bird species like Goliath Heron, Egyptian Goose, Pelican Bee-eater, kingfisher, Hornbill, Cormorant and the rare Shoebill Stork.

After lunch, go for a boat Safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. There you leave the boat and start your quite heavy hike to the Top of the Falls (approx. 1 hour). See where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. After an early morning breakfast, you will leave Murchison Falls National Park and depart for Kibale Forest National Park, enroute stopover at Kahoora city of the then Bunyoro Kitara King (Omukama) Kabalega -the currently named Hoima city for refreshing and proceed to Kibale. You will have an enroute lunch along your way to Kibale and another stopover at Mukwano Tea estate for a farm visit and proceed to the famous Bigodi wetland sanctuary or you can go out on a nocturnal walk to spot the strange night creatures that leave their hideouts at dusk; the nightjar, Potto, Bush baby, cricket, Tree hyrax, the occasional Civet and serval cat. Return to the Safari Lodge of your choice for dinner and overnight.

After your breakfast you will set out to the park headquarters for instructions before embarking on your Chimpanzee trekking excursions. Kibale National Park has the largest number of Chimpanzees and a number of families have been habituated to make trekking easier. With the aid a professional guide you won’t take long before encountering the endangered species; you will be able to watch them go about their daily tasks from a short range – mother’s nursing their infants, the little ones playing and swinging in the trees, the proud males making rounds and keeping a keen eye on their families, enjoyable and excellent for viewing bird life and primates in close quarters. Return to the Lodge for lunch and checkout. After lunch, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park to sight the animals enroute to the park and check in. Meals and overnight:

After your breakfast, you will proceed to the famous Ishasha sector of the medley of wonders -Queen Elizabeth National Park for a morning game drive where you will have a chance to see the Tree-Climbing Lions. This amazing drive will reward you perfect spots on lions stretched out languidly between tree trunks and branches. In addition to the fascinating lions, you will see herds of Buffalos, Antelopes, Elephants and Hippos. After lunch you will proceed for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George with abundant bird life will be sighted, elephants, buffaloes and hundreds of hippos that are cooling off at the shores and this launch cruise will be one of the highlights of your Uganda wildlife Safari to Queen Elizabeth– a remarkable Safari holidays destination. After your breakfast, embark on your Safari holiday excursions to the southern part of the pearl of Africa- Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You will have an enroute lunch as you proceed to Bwindi. Arrive at the park and rest, later continue for a community visit and encounter the Batwa pygmy people who are the initial forest dwellers that co-existed with the mountain Gorillas and other wildlife.

After breakfast, prepare for your day’s Gorilla trekking excursion with packed lunch boxes and proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing on the Gorilla tracking etiquette by UWA guides and rangers -tacked in your trekking jungle boots, rain jacket with your walking sticks advance for the activity. Gorilla trekking is unpredictable; the Gorilla tracking excursion can take from 2 up to 8 hours. Be ready to walk along distance in steep and muddy conditions, the floor is always wet.

On the 10thday of your magical Safari holidays experience, you will leave Bwindi very early in the morning and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi -arrive at around midday. After having lunch, you proceed for a boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi till nightfall while sailing to the various islands on the lake. Lake Bunyonyi has 29 islands among which is the famous Akampene (Punishment Island) where unmarried pregnant girls where left to starve and die, Bwama and Njuyeera (sharp’s island). After your breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Mburo National Park in Mbarara to continue with your Safari holidays adventure. You will make a stopover for an enroute lunch and a visit to Igongo Cultural Museum then later embark on your trip to the park. Enroute to the park expect to encounter animals like the defassa waterbuck, buffalos, hippos, Impalas, eland, zebras, Rothschild giraffe and reedbucks. Besides the mammals the park has over 350 bird species. You will later proceed for an evening cycling in the wilderness with the ranger guides-this activity will enable you explore lake Mburo National park on a bicycle and draws you closer to wild animals which are human friendly herbivores.
