A private luxury safari in East Africa usually comes to about USD 1,200 to 2,700 per person per night, all in, with camps, flights between them, park fees and ground support included. Ultra luxury journeys run from about USD 1,400 to 4,500, and exclusive use camps and private islands from about USD 2,800 to 4,700. The season matters: green season can be a third less than the peak Migration months. Use the estimator below to see a range for your own journey.

A luxury stay in the Maasai Mara costs about USD 1,200 to 4,700 per person per night, all in, with the camp, park or conservancy fees, flights from Nairobi and arrival support, depending on the camp and the month. The Mara reserve fee is USD 100 per adult per day from January to June and USD 200 from July to December.
A luxury stay in the Serengeti costs about USD 1,200 to 5,000 per person per night, all in, with the camp, park fees, flights from Arusha and arrival support. Private reserves such as Singita Grumeti and Mwiba sit at the top of that range, with their own conservation fees.
For 2027, plan on about USD 1,200 to 2,700 per person per night, all in, for a luxury safari in Kenya and Tanzania, and USD 1,400 to 4,500 for ultra luxury. Most camps raise their rates by about 3 to 6 percent a year.
Most camps publish 2028 rates during 2027, so our 2028 figures are projected from 2027 contracts: about USD 1,200 to 2,800 per person per night for luxury and USD 1,400 to 4,700 for ultra luxury, all in. We hold the rate once your deposit is paid.
For the Great Migration months, the festive season and gorilla trekking, yes. The best camps and permits sell out 9 to 18 months ahead, and booking early secures the camp and the rate. For the rest of 2026, we still have space at many camps from October to December.
Plan on about USD 1,200 to 2,700 per person per day for a private luxury safari, all in, and USD 1,400 to 4,500 for ultra luxury. The Great Migration months and the festive season sit at the top of each range.
Your camps and lodges, the light aircraft flights between them, park and conservancy fees, gorilla permits in Rwanda, activities, arrival support and medical evacuation cover. International flights, including flights to Kigali, the Seychelles and Mauritius, are quoted separately, as are visas, tips and travel insurance.
For families and small groups it often is. A private aircraft flies on your timing and straight to the airstrip nearest your camp, so you gain hours on the ground. The cost is shared across your group, so the price per person falls as the group grows.
Prices change with the exact camp, the room or suite, your dates and availability. The range shows what a journey like yours typically costs, and your designer then confirms an exact price for your dates.
Usually, yes. In April, May and November many camps offer their best rates, often around a fifth less than the peak months, and some add extra nights at no cost.
A gorilla permit in Volcanoes National Park costs USD 1,500 per person per trek, and trekkers must be at least 15 years old. The estimator adds one permit for each trekking day, up to two.
Yes. Most camps charge less for children sharing with their parents, and some let children stay free in certain seasons. The estimator uses each camp's own children's rates and shows a separate price per child. Some camps welcome children only from 6 or 10, and gorilla trekking starts at 15.
Tips are not included and are always at your discretion. As a guide, many guests give about USD 20 to 30 per guest per day for their guide and a similar amount per day to the camp staff box.
Usually yes. A night in the city after a long flight means you fly to the bush rested and on time. Every Ongeri estimate already includes one night in Nairobi, and you can add more nights, or a stay in Arusha or Kigali, with hotels such as Hemingways Nairobi, Legendary Lodge and The Pinnacle Kigali.
No. Card processing is already included in every Ongeri estimate and quote, so there is no surcharge for paying by credit card.
A 30% deposit secures your camps and flights, and the balance is due 60 days before you travel.
For the peak Migration months, the festive season and gorilla trekking, we suggest 9 to 12 months ahead. For other months, 3 to 6 months is usually enough.
