Good to Know

Luxury Mauritius holiday questions, answered.

When is the best time to visit Mauritius?

May to December, the cooler, drier winter and early summer, with sunny days and calm lagoons. January to March is hot and humid, with a risk of cyclones.

How do I get to Mauritius after my safari?

By scheduled flight from Nairobi, about four and a half hours. We connect the flight from the Maasai Mara or Amboseli, and arrange the transfer to your resort on arrival.

What are the best luxury resorts in Mauritius?

One&Only Le Saint Geran on the Belle Mare peninsula, Shangri La Le Touessrok and the Four Seasons at Anahita on the east coast, the St Regis beneath Le Morne, and The Oberoi and The Westin on Turtle Bay.

Which part of Mauritius is best?

The east coast around Belle Mare and Le Touessrok has the longest beaches and calmest lagoons from May to December. Le Morne in the south west is dramatic and superb for kitesurfing. The north west around Turtle Bay is sheltered and sunny in summer.

How much does a luxury Mauritius holiday cost?

Our safari and Mauritius journeys start from USD 12,250 per person. Five nights at a luxury Mauritius resort usually adds USD 3,000 to 7,000 per person to a safari, and a private villa more.

How many nights should I spend in Mauritius?

Five to seven nights, as the flight from Nairobi is the longest of the three island finales. It suits a longer, slower beach stay.

Is Mauritius good for families?

It is the best of the three islands for families, with calm lagoons, excellent kids clubs, villas with their own pools and plenty to do beyond the beach.

Mauritius, the Seychelles or Zanzibar?

Mauritius has the most complete resorts and the best choice for families and golfers. The Seychelles offer the most dramatic private islands, and Zanzibar is the shortest hop from a Tanzania safari.
