What are resident rates?

Resident rates are prices that camps, lodges and resorts set for citizens and residents of East Africa. They are quoted in Kenya shillings and are usually well below the international rate for the same room.

Who qualifies for Ongeri resident offers?

Citizens and residents of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. Kenya residents need a valid work permit, dependant pass or alien card. We confirm which rate applies to you before we quote.

What do I need to show at check in?

A national ID, or a passport together with your residence permit, for every adult. Without it, the camp may charge the international rate on arrival.

How much does a resident safari cost in 2026?

Our resident offers start from KES 67,500 per person sharing for 2 nights at Hildana Lodge. Fly in safaris to the Maasai Mara start from KES 160,000 per person sharing, beach holidays on the Kenya coast from KES 150,000, and island holidays from KES 388,000.

Can friends who are not residents travel with us?

Yes. Guests who do not qualify pay the camp's international rate for their room. We price everyone in one proposal, so you see a single total for the whole group.

Do children pay less?

Most camps offer reduced rates for children sharing with adults. Children's and single rates are on request, and we include them in your quote.

Can I pay in Kenya shillings?

Yes. Resident offers are quoted and settled in Kenya shillings, by bank transfer or by card, with no surcharge for paying by card.

How far ahead should I book?

For July to October and the festive season, book as early as you can, because the best camps fill first. For the rest of the year, a few weeks ahead is often enough.

Are flights included?

It depends on the offer. Fly in safaris include return flights from Nairobi Wilson, the Tsavo offer travels by SGR train, and each offer page lists exactly what is included.
