Our published journeys start at about USD 11,000 per person for 6 days in the Maasai Mara and run to USD 46,200 per person for the 12 day Ultimate East Africa journey across Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania. Most tailormade safaris sit somewhere between the two.

What moves the number is season, how much of the journey flies rather than drives, and whether you sleep inside the national reserve or in a private conservancy. Tell your designer a budget at the first conversation and they will tell you honestly what it buys and what it does not.

For July to October, when the Great Migration is in the Maasai Mara, the best camps are usually full 9 to 12 months ahead. The smallest ones go earlier than that, and exclusive use villas earlier still.

For green season travel in April, May and November, 3 to 6 months is usually enough. If your dates are fixed, book early. If they are flexible, we can often find something very good at shorter notice.

July to October for the river crossings in the Maasai Mara. January to March for the calving in the southern Serengeti, and for the clearest views of Kilimanjaro from Amboseli.

April, May and November are green season. Fewer vehicles, lower rates, extraordinary skies, and some camps closed. There is no bad month in East Africa, only different ones, and your designer will tell you which one suits what you want to see.

Every designer on the team plans safaris in Kenya and Tanzania. Beyond that, each has their own ground.

Anton Ochwada adds gorilla trekking in Rwanda and Uganda. Cazeah Owiti adds Zanzibar. Jane Irungu adds the Kenyan coast and Zanzibar. Abner Ongeri adds Seychelles and Mauritius.

Private guiding and a private vehicle, your camps and lodges on the board basis quoted, park and conservancy fees, and internal flights wherever the itinerary flies rather than drives.

Every Ongeri journey also carries airport meet and assist, departure lounge access on the way home, and Rescue.co medevac cover for the length of your stay. Those are not upsells, they are standard.

International flights, visas, travel insurance, premium drinks and gratuities sit outside the quote unless you ask us to build them in.

Yes, and a good number of our guests do. The thing worth knowing early is that many luxury camps set a minimum age for shared game drives, often six or twelve.

That is why family journeys usually work better with a private vehicle, or in an exclusive use villa where the whole property is yours and the rules are your own. Anton, Cazeah and Jane all build around the ages of the children rather than around the camps.

You call your designer, not a call centre. We are in Nairobi, in the same time zone as your safari, and we hold the relationships with the camps, the flight operators and the ground teams.

Guests have written publicly about a delayed flight, a strike at the airport and luggage that did not arrive. In every case the fix came from the same person who planned the journey, usually on WhatsApp, often before the guest had finished worrying about it.

Yes. Cazeah Owiti curates halal safaris across Kenya and Tanzania. Halal catering, prayer arrangements, privacy requirements and alcohol free camps are planned into the journey from the start rather than requested on arrival.

We work in East Africa Time, so most enquiries are answered the same working day. Nothing is confirmed until you say it is, and most journeys change shape once or twice before they are right.

Every designer on the team is Kenyan and lives here. We are not interpreting East Africa from a desk in another time zone.
