Kilimanjaro's great elephant herds from a private suite at Kitirua Plains, then the Mara from the edge of the Great Rift Valley at Angama. Your own guide and your own Land Cruiser throughout.
A luxury family safari in Kenya that shows children the true range of the country. The great elephant herds of Amboseli under Mount Kilimanjaro, then the endless plains of the Mara from the rim of the Great Rift Valley.
You begin in Karen, at Hemingways Nairobi, with the elephant orphanage, the Giraffe Centre and a coffee farm in the Limuru hills. Then you fly south to Amboseli.
From Amboseli you fly to the Mara and to Angama, built directly on the rim of the Oloololo Escarpment. Your interconnecting suite has floor to ceiling views across the whole reserve below, one side for the parents and one for the children.
Four nights of the Mara Triangle in your own Land Cruiser, with a private guide, walking safaris along the escarpment, and childminding from 6pm to 10pm so dinner can be yours.
Why we love this journey — Two of Kenya's greatest views in one trip. Elephants at eye level beneath Kilimanjaro, then the whole Mara laid out below your suite on the edge of the Rift Valley. Your own vehicle and guide throughout, so nothing is shared and the days bend to your children rather than a fixed timetable.
Prices are for a family of four, two adults and two children under sixteen. Low Season is the value window. Peak Season covers the Migration months and the festive period, and it prices accordingly. Extra adults are from USD 13,900 and extra children from USD 10,400, depending on the season. Talk to us for the exact shape of your family.

You are met and assisted on arrival and transferred to Hemingways Nairobi in Karen. The next day is yours with a private vehicle and guide. The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust first, for the orphaned elephants at their morning mud bath. Then the Giraffe Centre, where a giraffe will take a pellet from your child's hand. In the afternoon, a drive up into the tea and coffee country of Limuru for a private farm tour and a tasting.
After breakfast you fly to Amboseli and transfer to Kitirua Plains, in a private conservancy bordering the park. You settle into your two bedroom suite, then head out on your first game drive in your own vehicle, for the big bull elephants and the sweeping views of Kilimanjaro.
The next day runs at your pace. Drives along the marshes and dry lake beds for iconic photos of wildlife framed by the snows of the mountain, meals crafted by your own chef, and the absolute privacy of your family suite between the drives.
You fly from Amboseli to the Kichwa Tembo airstrip and transfer to Angama Mara, built on the rim of the Oloololo Escarpment. You check into your interconnecting suite, with floor to ceiling views across the whole Mara below. In the afternoon, your first guided safari in the famous Mara Triangle, in your own 4x4 Land Cruiser.
Because your Land Cruiser is yours alone, the days run on your children's energy. Out for lions, leopards, cheetahs and the migrating herds in the Mara Triangle, with a private bush lunch and a sundowner from the escarpment when the light turns.
In between, guided walking safaris along the Oloololo Escarpment to learn the flora and the Maasai stories, tailored activities for the children, and childminding from 6pm to 10pm so parents can have an unhurried dinner.
A final watch over the waking Mara plains, then a private transfer to the airstrip and your scheduled flight to Wilson Airport. A luxury transfer takes you to Jomo Kenyatta International for your flight home. Your children will fall asleep before the plane levels off, and they will still be talking about the elephants at Christmas.
