Finch Hattons: the best honeymoon lodge in Tsavo West
Finch Hattons sits in the north west of Tsavo West National Park, with views of Kilimanjaro and the Chyulu Hills. It is named for Denys Finch Hatton, and the style is a luxury tented camp with a bygone era feel.
There are 17 tented suites, raised on decks above natural springs. Inside you will find indoor and outdoor showers, a copper bath and an open plan layout.
The Finch Hatton Suite is the honeymoon pick. It has its own plunge pool, a private chef and optional butler service.
The wider camp has a large pool with a sun deck, an infinity pool at the spa, a hammam and a yoga deck over the Chyulu Hills. From camp you can watch hippos and crocodiles in the springs.
Days include game drives, a visit to Mzima Springs, bush walks and sundowners. You can also hike in the Chyulu Hills forest and visit a Maasai village.

The Hildana Lodge: the best private honeymoon lodge near the Taita Hills
Hildana is small and very private. It stands at the foot of the Taita Hills, within a private conservation area, and hosts up to 20 guests in 8 rooms.
Each room is its own cottage along a winding path, with a private veranda. One of them is the honeymoon suite, which has a large bathtub overlooking the Taita Hills and a secluded private garden.
The design mixes Mediterranean and Swahili ideas, and the food is Mediterranean inspired. A pool looks out over the landscape.
Ask about the star beds, set near a waterhole. Guests can sleep outside under the stars when the weather allows, although they cannot be booked in advance. In the early evening, elephants and other wildlife may visit the waterhole in season.
